FAQ
Why should I partner with you?
It’s never too early to start planning for retirement! The earlier you start thinking about tax diversification, what kind of legacy you want to leave for your family or charities, etc. the better positioned you will be moving into retirement. We can help you create a comprehensive financial plan that will let you know what you need to be saving now to meet your goals and can help keep you accountable to stay on the path to success.
I already have a sizeable retirement account through my employer, do I really need your help?
Congratulations on saving early!
Employer retirement plans are typically one piece of retirement income. If this is the only retirement savings you are doing, it may not be enough to reach your retirement goals. We can help you determine if you are on track or if we need to introduce some additional strategies. Having tax diversification is another key to being prepared for retirement.
I am single and don't support a family, do I still need your help?
Yes! If you want to make sure your estate goes to people or causes you care about instead of to tax bills, we can partner with you to set up your assets in the best possible way. You may also be concerned about how you’ll pay for a potential long term medical event. We can help you plan now so that you are well prepared to meet your goals on time or early.
I as a small business owner have different retirement plans that involve the sale of my business. Can you help me plan for that?
Absolutely! In addition to our Managing Advisor, Derrick Jackson, being a small business owner who is always happy to share his expertise, we have partnered with several small business owners through retirement. We understand you have unique needs and require a different type of financial planning. We’ll work with your team (CPA, estate planning attorney, etc.) to make sure you are set up for success. We can also help you offer retirement savings plans you offer if you are looking for help retaining valuable employees.
I've always managed my investments myself, why should I work with you now?
Having the discipline to save and the ability to make good investment decisions is only part of preparing for retirement. To have the retirement that you dream of, a comprehensive financial plan and protection considerations are necessary. You may have the best performing portfolio in the history of time, but if you didn’t plan for market volatility shortly before and after retirement or didn’t plan to have a catastrophic health event early in retirement you may not be as well positioned as you think.
On another note, working with us does not mean you can no longer make your own investment decisions. We are happy to partner with you and invest in things you are interested in. We have options for people based on the level of involvement they want in the day-to-day management of the accounts.
What Questions Should I Ask You?
If you've never partnered with an Advisor before, you might be wondering what information you should consider as you make your decision.
- How will you partner with my tax team (CPA, estate planning attorney, etc.)?
- How do I check on your compliance history with the regulatory bodies?
- How often will you connect with me throughout the year?
- What fees do you charge?
- How do you protect my information?
- How quickly will you respond to me when I have a question?
